Fillings
Resin Composite
One of the most common types of dental restorations are called fillings. These are different types of materials that are placed in teeth to fill cavities and repair small defects in teeth. The most common types are silver amalgam and tooth colored resin composite.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are used on front teeth to cover discolored surfaces and fill small spaces. These are one of the most common “esthetic” restorations used when a person wants to change their smile. Similar to an artificial fingernail, they go on the front and chewing edge of a tooth to change the color and shape and sometimes to improve function. Since 1989 when the procedure was made a lot more effective and patient friendly the bleaching of teeth has become more popular. There are a few techniques available some using lights in the office followed by at home bleaching, some using lasers, and some using at home methods. The at home method has by far the most positive literature to support its use as a safe and effective bleaching technique. Both Drs. Small have been using this technique and Dr. Bruce Small has published research articles on the success of the at home tray method.
General Dentistry
He was a regular columnist for fifteen years for General Dentistry the journal of the Academy of General Dentistry and had published over 130 articles in dental publications. He is a sought after lecturer across the United States and beyond and is a continuing student himself belonging to two dental study clubs and mentors two additional clubs in New York and Pennsylvania.
