Sacroiliac joint pain and dysfunction can be related to a traumatic injury or develop over time. Certain genetic diseases can increase the risk of developing sacroiliac joint disease. Other contributing factors may include: nerve irritation, fluid buildup, joint misalignment, scoliosis, pregnancy or recent childbirth, lingering issues from lower back surgery, and repeated activities that put stress on the joint like sports or labor intensive occupations.

At this time, our neurology service is focused on the support of our neurosurgical practice. We are generally not seeking neurology patients outside of this context.

Small squat put me over the edge and my back pain started. I'd been given wonderful advice about Dr. M and after a MRI, the office called giving me an early appt. Dr. M was direct, honest, and very kind-I liked her approach immediately. She explained the surgery, told me the risks, and the results were excellent! After recovery, which was just as they told me it would be, I am walking, riding my bike, lifting, gardening and back to LIFE. Thank you Dr. M.
Radiology
You will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment 4-6 weeks after surgery with a Physician Assistant. You will be scheduled to have a lateral cervical spine x-ray done on the same day as your follow-up appointments. Please go to Alice Peck Day Radiology ½ hour prior to your follow-up appointment to have x-rays done. The office will send the order to radiology in advance of your appointment.

Pinched Nerve
Certain conditions require open spinal surgery. It requires the surgeon to make an incision and access the spinal anatomy to alleviate the pinched nerve, or other spinal conditions. Even with an open incision our surgeons continue to use the operating microscope to preserve surrounding tissue that will result in a better outcome.

Our Gifford neurosurgery offices are conveniently located in the Kingwood Health Center just a half mile off Interstate 89 on Route 66 west. Pre and post surgical care is conducted in this location. Minimally invasive surgeries are performed close-by at the Gifford Medical Center.
