Laura Westphal is joining Bates Mill Dermatology in October 2023. Laura graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2011 with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. Laura began her career as a physician assistant in emergency medicine in Boston, Massachusetts where she practiced for 6 years. She then practiced emergency medicine and urgent care in Burlington, Vermont for another 6 years. She is relocating to Maine now with her husband and two children. Bates Mill Dermatology offers Mohs micrographic surgery for treatment of skin cancers. Mohs surgery is a method of removing skin cancer (most often basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma) with narrow margins, then checking under the microscope to make sure all the cancer cells are removed.
