Locust Campground

We visited The Locust Campground in Lewistown at the suggestions of friends... and boy, are we gald we did! Had a great time in August 2008, and the Owners and Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Check-In was a breeze, and upon Check-Out they sincerely asked if there was anything they could've done to make our stay more enjoyable.



For only $30 per night, it was a bargain for our Site was level, spacious, and shaded. Both Bathhouses were very clean (very important) and the Laundry Rooms were very nice, too.



The Campground is located directly on the Juniata River, were our whole family floated on inner tubes for a lovely sunny afternoon. That evening, my wife and kids played Bingo up at the "Canal House" , while I did some basss fishing in the Historic Pennsylvania Canal that runs the entire length of the Campground. Caught 4 nice size fish, but of course had to throw them back. (I could've kept any fish caught in the River though). Saturday brought fun for the whole family wth the campground activity called the "Wild Goose Chase Race", going all through the campground, solving clues and winning prizes. My son and I competed against my wife and daughter team.... the gals won (this time!).



Had a very nice time, and will definitely be back..... and will recommend to our friends, too.
