DUI/DWI
We do not live in Fayette County, but recently found ourselves in dire need of good representation there, AND very quickly. Our twenty-something son, who is a Dean’s List college kid about to graduate, made a huge mistake in judgment one night. After drinking too much at a bar with a buddy, got into the car and drove. He had always been extremely aware of the dangers involved with drinking and driving and always made good decisions if he felt he had more than the minimum. His trip was cut short because he hit two cars parked in a turning lane on Man-O-War Blvd (they were changing a tire) at 2:30 a.m. totaling the car he drove and one of the other cars. A pedestrian standing nearby was also involved in the accident. There were passengers in the other totalled car. He was arrested for Aggravated DUI because he refused the breathalizer. This was on a Monday and his arraignment was set for 8 days later. My son is truly a good person who could have been up the proverbial creek, and my wife and I were beside ourselves with worry. We needed a good Lexington attorney. Haley Prevatt was referred to us through a local attorney friend. Within an hour of leaving a message seeking a consult and representation from her, she returned my call. She took his case, and met with him the very next day. A case which could involve jail time, the maximum license suspension and possibly a trial resulted in none of those. This was thanks to Haley and her knowledge of the system. Haley Prevatt is the best person I know! Not only is she a fantastic attorney but she is a wonderful friend. A little over a year ago I found myself in a situation I could never have seen coming. I was charged with Burglary 2nd degree, a class C felony, and was facing 5 to 10 years behind bars. I am your average everyday mother, grandmother, working class citizen and was totally taken off guard by my circumstances. In short I had been having health problems and ended up living with a woman in Lexington to watch over her children while she was out in the evening. Long story, it didn’t turn out to be what she had promised and I decided to cut my losses. I packed up my belongings while she was gone and went to live with a friend. A few months later my daughter informed me that a detective from Lexington was looking for me. I immediately called him and subsequently turned myself in, why not, I hadn’t done anything wrong. What an education I received over the next year. I spend four days and nights in jail before being bailed out. I was assigned a public defender but didn’t speak or meet her until my first court appearance. After that I knew if this person represented me I would spend 10 years in jail for something I didn’t do. I got online and googled felony attorneys in Lexington, one page led to another and I finally came upon the face of the woman who would be my saving grace. I feel God led me to Haley’s website because I have never been able to find it by looking for it in the same manner. It was a long road but Haley was wonderful. I know for certain that if I had not retained Haley as my attorney I would be sitting in prison this very moment. She knew the right questions to ask and where to look for the information we needed. Haley got the case dismissed and the charges expunged from my record! I have to say that Haley Prevatt is the single most important person who has ever been brought into my life. I am writing this testimony in regards to Attorney Haley Prevatt. I was previously falsely accused and charged with three counts of drug trafficking while visiting Kentucky. I originally came to Kentucky to site-see and go shopping as I love to do. I ended up getting arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. I was petrified, distraught, and did not know who to turn to for help and guidance. I never been arrested before and I was facing up to nine years. I was very confused about the Commonwealth laws there and I did not know anyone in Kentucky, let alone an attorney that I could trust with my life.
