Decades ago, funeral and memorial services were usually held in the home of the person who had died. However, in 1950, when John W. Fisher and his wife Mary bought a large, old home on West Market Street in Logansport, they remodeled it into one of the first funeral chapels that could accommodate visitation and funeral services. The Fisher's idea of providing soothing surroundings and a spacious, comfortable, convenient facility was a success.
