        This place is steeped in history, I think it is the oldest bar in Illinois. Mike the manager is fun and friendly and runs a tight ship which makes for a very enjoyable experience. I recommend trying the Broasted Chicken.

        Established in 1984, Village Tavern offers a range of steaks, burgers and pizzas. It also serves a variety of chops, fish, homemade desserts and pasta. Additionally, the restaurant serves an array of wines, cocktails, martinis, specialty drinks and spirits. Its lunch menu features bruschetta, chicken quesadillas, spring rolls, fried potato chips, grilled chicken, tenderloins, turkey burgers and cheesecakes. The restaurant s in-house specialties include pork chops, marinated steaks, grilled shrimp and crab cakes. Village Tavern, with a location in Long Groove, Ill., operates an electronic club that offers special discounts and newsletters to its members.
