Delicious bowl of ramen! I am huge fan of real ramen with rich, hearty tonkatsu broth. I tried the tonkatsu kotteri here and was pretty pleased. It was a large serving which I didn't finish.
Note - it's DTLA, so parking is a pain. Also, there's almost always a long wait because it's a tiny restaurant. We went on a hot summer day so it was really toasty in the restaurant. Best time to go is probably late at night, or in the winter. Their AC seems to be barely working.
I prefer the tastes of Ramen Yamadaya, but this was pretty good.
Daikokuya is one of my favorite tonkotsu ramen places in LA. If you're a fan of Santouka, Yamadaya or Shinsengumi, you would also like this place.
The place is always packed and wait time is 10 minutes to sometime over an hour; so avoid the busiest hours as possible. I like Daikokuya but I would rather go to Shinsengumi (which is 5 minutes away) if the wait is too long. Shinsengumi is just as good as Daikokuya.
The place only takes cash.

There is a suuuuuper long wait for ramen here. We came here at around 7 Pm on Saturday and waited 1.5-2 hours for a party of three.
I don't really think the ramen is worth the long wait, even though it is decent. We got the tonkotsu and pork katsu combo -- carbs galore!! I couldn't finish everything since it was so much food.
I feel like the broth is always a little too salty and I get really thirsty after. There isn't really anything that stands out about Daikokuya ramen itself. My favorite part is probably the egg. Ramen noodles are ok but nothing special.

Best ramen joint in LA! Get the ramen and rice bowl combo and u won't be sorry. Wait time can be long but worth it... just don't go in a big group. Cash only... there's a shady looking ATM on site if u're willing to roll the dice with ur identity. The parking sit kinda sux but u'll forget about all the hassles a few bites in. Don't be scurred!!

If you're in the mood for really good Japanese ramen Daikokuya is the place to go! Line is always long so make sure you go early to put your name on the list and walk around Japanese Village.

Great place for ramen, the but wait can be over an hour (even outside of regular lunch hours). Come early to sign in, walk around Little Tokyo for a bit, then come back later to eat. The ramen portions are fairly large, so appetizers may be unnecessary unless you plan on eating a lot.

Definitely one of the top ramen places i have been too. Highly recommend checking this place out - you can even make a day of visiting the MOCA and coming here for lunch or dinner. There was a wait but totally worth it.
