Teeth Cleaning
It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.

Crowns
The Motion Class III Appliance is a minimally invasive appliance that Dr. Van Allen may use to treat Class III malocclusions. Ideally, this is done to eliminate extractions, painful orthognathic surgery, or traditionally uncomfortable and obtrusive facemasks. The Motion Class III Appliance features a custom fit and gentle repositioning of the molar with no complicated springs, push rods, bands, or crowns. It provides predictable results and creates a harmonious, balanced profile, all while preserving your natural features.

Dental Implants
Born and raised in Los Angeles, I attended the University of California, Los Angeles for my undergraduate education where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology with Honors. Upon completion of my undergraduate studies, I attended the UCLA School of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. I then moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado, Denver for my Orthodontic residency where I also received my Master of Science in Dentistry degree. During my orthodontic training, I obtained an advanced certification in Invisalign® treatment and attended numerous lectures on orthodontic mini-screw implants, along with completing an extensive research project on digital modeling for orthodontic treatment plans.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
Most children lose all their baby teeth by age 13, and by the end of their teen years, the jaw bones will harden and stop growing. Orthodontic procedures for adults often take more time and can involve tooth extraction or oral surgery. Receiving early orthodontic treatment as a child can help prevent the need for orthodontics as an adult, leaving little to no chance of extraction or surgery in the future.
Jaw Surgery
Your orthodontist can tell you if orthognathic surgery is needed as part of your treatment. Depending on the severity of your case and the alignment of your jaw, you may or may not need surgery.
Maxillofacial Surgery
Surgical orthodontics, also known as orthognathic surgery, is a type of orthodontic treatment used to correct severe cases that include bad bites, jaw bone abnormalities, and malocclusion. Oral and maxillofacial surgery is one of the nine recognized dental specialties, and it focuses on treating complex craniofacial cases that involve the mouth, jaw, face, and skull. If you need surgical orthodontics, your orthodontist will work with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to ensure that you receive the best care possible.
Tooth Extractions
Bone Grafting
Also known as periodontically assisted osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO), surgically facilitated orthodontic treatment (SFOT) is a combination of gum and bone grafting that allows Dr. Van Allen to orthodontically move teeth with inadequate bone and gum support, thin gums, or gum recession. It can also help avoid the extraction of teeth in some cases.
