- Royalton Kennels offers it's clients a wide range of features. Our overall best feature is that of our staff. We employ only individuals who love pets - and thus love our guests. As a result of this many find that their pet is very excited to come stay with us! Those dropping off their pets often notice, and share with us, how much they appreciate the love and attention shown by our staff. Our groomer is professionally trained, has taken advanced grooming courses and is experienced with all breeds. Royalton Kennels offer a full line of grooming for all dog breeds - and cats too! Our state-of-the-art bathing system offers a hydro-massage for your pet while cleaning their coat and skin. All baths include nail trims, ear cleaning and expressing the anal glands. Long haired pets are styled and blown dry. No day at the spa is complete without cologne, a bandanna or bows and lots of TLC. We believe that a clean pet is a healthy and happy pet.

- Hal and Ellen Kapen are from the New York City area. They were both active in the medical field in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA. In 1988, they retired to Louisville, KY area to open Royalton Kennels, a five acre dog paradise in Fern Creek. The Kapens have had family pets since 1970 and acquired their first “show dog” in 1982. They have been showing their Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1983 in AKC conformation and obedience events. One of their dogs was the #1 Ridgeback in conformation events in the United States in 1990. They are active members of the Louisville Kennel Club, the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States, and the American Boarding Kennel Association.

We have basically boarded here over 30 times. We like it at they are always great to the dog
Nice place they have here. This was my first time bringing my boxer for doggie 3 day care and a little nip and tuck grooming expedition. He really seemed to enjoy it, so I think I'll be back.

Very happy with the services provided at Royalton Kennels here in Louisville. I bring my dog in every 2 months or so just to get her refreshed and around other dogs and animals.

When I have to travel for any extended period of time, I always bring my cat, Kattobear, here to stay and keep safe. My cat is my lil buddy and I don't want anything to ever happen to him. I feel that I get good service and Kattobear is happy and looks great when I get back.
I love this place! My dog Mudslide has been there 3 times this year for a total of approximately 26 days and seems to really enjoy it. Their prices are more than reasonable. I would highly recommend the $5 play time.I have a terribly emotional time leaving my dog so I am very thankful to have found her such a great second home.
