Central Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery

At age 22, I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed. After viewing my panoramic x-ray, Dr. McAndrew said I had a high chance of nerve damage in my bottom jaw. Obviously, I was very nervous about that. Dr. McAndrew did a good job reassuring me though.



The day of the surgery, my husband drove me to the office and I was taken back to a room right away. I was hooked to a heart monitor & an oxygen monitor was put on my finger. They started me on oxygen. A minute or two later, Dr. McAndrew switched me to laughing gas-- which is amazing. I felt really relaxed. Then, he inserted the needle to my arm for the general anesthesia. I didn't feel anything after that. He gave me Novocaine after I was sedated. All of this happened within about 10-15 minutes of coming to the office. I didn't have to wait at all.



The day after surgery, my face is a little swollen and my lower jaw is bruised (which is to be expected). Ice & pain killers are helping though. And, I have NO numbness! That was my biggest fear. Dr. McAndrew & his staff were great! He was very friendly & chatty (which helped alleviate my nervousness). He was very responsible & took every precaution. The office is clean and modern. And, it's located less than a mile from Walgreens, so my husband was able to pick up my prescriptions on our way home.
