Child Abuse
Immediately following the publication of D.A. Seth Williams’ 2011 Report, Daniel F. Monahan, Esquire filed the first child sexual abuse case against the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. The suit named ten defendants including the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and alleged a conspiracy of sexually abusive priests and priests who allowed these predators to continue their ministries despite known credible allegations of child abuse. The suit also alleged that church officials overtly lied to parishioners. On the eve of trial, a favorable six figure resolution of the case was completed to the client’s satisfaction.

Child Abuse

Sex Crimes
In 2020, six women in their 40s and 50s filed suit against U.S.A. Swimming saying that the national governing body failed to protect them from coaches who were sexual predators when they were pre-teens and teen-agers decades earlier. These California women were able to sue U.S.A. Swimming under a California law that opened a three-year window for victims to file sex abuse claims that had expired under the statute of limitations. One of the plaintiffs was abused in the 1980s by her former swim coach Andrew King. King was a successful coach who mentored nationally ranked swimmers in San Jose. He was arrested in 2010, pled no contest and was sentenced on 20 child molestation charges to 40 years in prison.
