Dr. Mamoun passed the dental licensing exam of the country of Canada, as well as the North East Regional Board dental examinations. He is licensed to practice dentistry in New York and New Jersey, and has fulfilled the essential requirements for licensure in Canada and dozens of other American states. In July, 2006, Dr. Mamoun decided to establish his own dental office, in Manalapan, NJ (Monmouth county), after spending the past four years working as an associate in various dental offices in New York and New Jersey. "Working at other dental offices was invaluable for my personal development as a dentist and clinician," says Dr. Mamoun. "Each office has its own unique style of practice, with both good and bad business and dental practice habits. I learned a great deal from working with all of the dentists I worked with, and I not only learned valuable skills from the things that they did well, but I learned how to avoid quite a few mistakes that I observed being made. I still work part-time in some dental offices in New Jersey, both to acquire some income during the early, lean years of my practice, and also to continue to learn from my dentist employers. Dentistry is like the game of Chess; it takes a short time to learn it, but a lifetime to master it. It is impossible to underestimate the value of mentorship as a means of personal development. Mentorship involves acquiring many perspectives of how to practice from many dentists all of which can contribute to the development of a dentist's clinical and theoretical understanding."
