Founded in 1878, Mars Home for Youth serves the special needs of abused, neglected and troubled youth and their families in residential, educational and community-based programs. It provides residential services, including a residential treatment facility program and a residential supervision program. Its campus includes a school, gymnasium, cafeteria, recreation center, swimming pool, outdoor sports court, athletic fields and fishing pond. It undertakes a variety of community-based services, including multisystemic therapy, intensive community monitoring, after school program and family support and empowerment. It operates an alternative education program, Longmore Academy, approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for students in grades seven through 12. Mars Home for Youth is located in Mars, Pa.
