Glen Retirement Community

I would steer clear of this retirement system. The assisted living and nursing home are not good choices to put a loved one in. For brevity's sake I'll just say that the nursing home has a high bedsore rate and people are sent out all the time with dehydration and fecal impactions - if one has these conditions it is due to neglect. In the assisted living the nurses don't have a clue what's going on with the resident's health because they do not round with the doctor and the doctor has visit notes typed up and given to the facility a month after the visit. The nurses here have not been floor nurses I don't believe, because, for example if you loved one has abdominal pain they don't listen to bowel sounds; if your loved one is suspected of a bleed they don't check a blood pressure or a pulse, and the scary thing is, the doctor doesn't ask for one, they just say 'send them to the ER.'

I would say that this is an excellent retirement community with very caring staff members. Many options for independent living and a high quality assisted living program. Excellent Activity Programming and delicious meals prepared daily under the direction of our Chef. Definitely one of my family's top three choices when we needed to transition my grandmother.
