If evaluation indicates a tree represents a high risk of failure, remedial treatments can reduce that risk. Treatments could involve pruning to reduce branch weight and wind resistance and installation of structural supports including cables and brace rods that help to limit branch movements during storms. When treatments will not adequately reduce the risk of failure, tree removal should be considered to maintain safety on the property.
Stump Grinding and Removal
Green Leaves Tree Service can remove tree stumps by having them ground down below the surface of the topsoil. Stump grinding is a far less abrasive method than traditional stump removal. It is also more cost effective and lets you achieve your landscaping goals sooner. The area can immediately be enhanced simply by adding new topsoil and planting grass or shrubs.
Crown Reduction
Crown reduction pruning, sometimes called drop-crotch pruning, is most often used when a tree has grown too large for its permitted space. This method is preferred to topping because it results in a more natural appearance, increases the time before pruning is needed again, and minimizes stress. This special procedure removes the end of a branch by cutting back to a “crotch” created by a lateral branch. The side branch needs to be at least 1/3 the diameter of the branch being cut so that water and nutrients will be redirected into the lateral branch and it can then assume the primary growth responsibility of the removed branch. Employing this method insures the tree will produce fewer sprouts at the point of the cut and the tree’s natural growth will be preserved.
Green Leaves Tree Service provides Laporte County, IN and surrounding areas with tree and bush trimming and pruning services for residential and commercial properties. We only perform the proper pruning techniques to keep your trees healthy and looking great!
Tree Maintenance
Northern Indiana endures its share of inclement weather which sometimes leads to the need for Emergency Tree Care.
Tree Cabling and Bracing
Whether an unsafe tree structure is due to lack of proper pruning or the natural growth inclination of a tree, cabling and bracing may be required to reduce stress.
Arborist Services
Will my tree fall? It’s a question we frequently hear from concerned homeowners. While there are no guarantees with Mother Nature, Green Leaves Tree Service arborists are trained to identify the structural defects that are most likely to result in broken branches or complete tree failure.
Land Clearing
Tree Mulching
During the tree removal, we chip up all the brush in our chipper, hauling away the chips or leaving them on site if the homeowner wants to use the chips as mulch. Then we either load the logs for removal or cut up all the large pieces into 16″ rounds for firewood, leaving it for the homeowner’s own use. In any event, the Green Leaves Tree Service crew takes pride in leaving the site neat and clean.
