Primary Care
This is the common cold of mental illness. Nearly everyone will suffer from some depression at some point in their life. Sometimes the depression can become severe enough that your life can be severely affected and if left untreated, it can be fatal. All of our staff are skilled in treating this common disorder and helping people to recover from it so they can resume leading a happy normal life. We coordinate care with Primary Care Physicians and Psychiatrists in the community to ensure a speedy recovery from this disorder. Also, keep in mind, with adolescents and children, depression can look like an OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANT/CONDUCT.
Smoking Cessation
Dr. Steven Katkin has successfully used hypnosis over a twenty-five years for smoking cessation, fear of flying and other phobias, weight loss/eating disorders, and pain management. He has been a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and his relaxation tapes have been published by the Association For Advanced Training in The Behavioral Sciences. His methods have been highly successful and have helped his clients gain more control over their life.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Many children are diagnosed with this disorder and if you list the symptoms it can sound like any kid at some point in their life. But what's usually behind this disorder is pain. That pain could be rejection, frustration or anything that can be going on in the adolescent life. We work to get behind the behaviors and reduce the pain. We also work to help the family heal and to build stronger bonds within the family so these behaviors won't have to be as disruptive as they feel now. Also some of these behaviors could be associated with an undiagnosed DEPRESSION, ANXIETY DISORDER, or ADHD.

Linda Houston, MA LPCC, NCC has been working in the counseling field since 1995. She strives to provide a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for her clients in order to help them live a more enhanced and fulfilling life. Linda's specialties include: anxiety and mood disorders, relationship issues, anger management, stress management, and chemical dependency. She also specializes working with clients in attaining healthier lifestyles. She uses models of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused and client-centered therapy. Linda also uses a holistic approach as well as evidenced based techniques. She works with people from the age of eight to those in their senior years.

Her career began in hospital social work in the Emergency and Psychiatry departments. She has also worked in nursing homes as a social worker. She has worked for several years counseling clients in an Employee Assistance Program. Her most recent experience was working with victims of domestic violence with Mental Health America. Leslie works with clientele ranging from young adults to those in their senior years. She also does marital and couple's counseling. Leslie takes a wellness approach to mental health. Her experience and treatment includes: women's issues, domestic violence, chemical dependency, depression, anxiety, grief and loss as well as faith based issues.
