Medical Weight Loss
But what if your weight loss journey has left you with excess skin around your abdomen, buttocks and thighs? Following significant weight loss, many people struggle with loose, hanging skin or redundant folds that conceal the healthy body underneath. Often, patients say they feel fit and vibrant inside, but their physical transformation is hidden by the larger frame they formerly filled out.
Primary Care
Your surgeon may require a pre-surgery mammogram if you are > 40 years of age or have a family history of pre-menopausal breast cancer and a physical exam by your primary care physician to assure you are medically ready for surgery. Arrange for an adult to drive you home after surgery. You will also need an adult to stay with you the first night.
Smoking Cessation
If you are considering brow lift surgery in the Minneapolis area and are in good general health, you may be an excellent candidate. Non-smokers are the best candidates for surgery. However, surgery can still be safe if smoking cessation is achieved for the recommended period before and after the procedure. Candidates must also have no medical conditions that could pose a risk during surgery or recovery, and have realistic expectations for what a brow lift can accomplish.

Laser Eye Surgery
It is generally required that you be in good mental and physical health before undergoing surgery. If you smoke, have a history of dry eyes, have thyroid issues, have high blood pressure or have other preexisting health conditions, you are more likely to experience complications during the procedure. It is recommended to avoid having Lasik surgery within 6 months of an upper and/or lower eyelid lift. The best way to know whether you are a candidate for eyelid surgery is to schedule a consultation with a professional plastic surgeon.

If you choose silicone implants, the FDA currently recommends a high definition ultrasound 5-6 years after implantation then again at 2-3 year intervals after that to monitor for rupture. FDA studies have shown no statistical increase in breast cancer or connective tissue disorders associated with silicone implant placement or subsequent rupture. However, if left undetected, silicone implant rupture can result in scar tissue formation called capsular contracture.
MRI
Even if your initial surgery went smoothly, a number of factors could cause your results to deviate from your expectations. These factors might be linked to the procedure itself, the breast implants, or changes that occur over time. Revision surgery may be necessary or recommended by your doctor if you experience certain complications, but it can also be performed to help you achieve a good cosmetic outcome. Patients considering breast revision should be healthy, have reasonable goals, and able to follow their surgeon’s recovery advice to avoid future problems. Those who are concerned about the integrity of their breast implants or having symptoms related to them may also want to undergo an MRI or ultrasound to check for leaks, tears or ruptures. Patients with silicone implants should undergo regular screening as recommended by the FDA, while those with saline implants do not need to take this step. Botox
The Botox brow lift is an increasingly popular procedure that creates more defined brows and a more awake-looking eye area with only a few strategically placed injections. By relaxing the muscles that pull the brows down, the muscle that pulls upward has no resistance. You can opt for either local anesthesia with sedation or a light general anesthesia, in which you are completely asleep during the procedure.
Liposuction
A butt lift is designed to accentuate lackluster curvature by excising excess skin and fat. Patients who may benefit from this procedure have a deflated or saggy backside, potentially resulting from pregnancy or losing a lot of weight. A butt lift is not to be confused with a Brazilian butt lift, which is a different procedure in which fat is taken from another area of the body via liposuction and transferred into the subcutaneous layer of the buttock.

Thigh Lift

Otoplasty
Otoplasty is often used in the correction of congenital prominent ears, an inherited trait that causes the ears to stick out farther from the head than usual. It can also reshape the ears for improved symmetry and address other defects or abnormalities. For many children, the appearance of large or protruding ears becomes the focus of teasing and can have a lasting impact on their self-esteem. While prominent ears are usually apparent from birth, the problem can persist through adulthood. However, otoplasty can be performed on children as young as 5 or 6 years old, when the ears are approaching their adult size and kindergarten is just around the corner. At this age, the operation is typically done under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, so no overnight stay is required. In older individuals, and for revision otoplasty surgeries, a local anesthetic is adequate.
Body Contouring
People who have chronic medical conditions or are in generally poor health are typically not good candidates for body contouring procedures. People who cannot take sufficient time off to recover may also be advised not to undergo butt lift surgery. The location of the incisions can make it difficult to sit or rest in typical positions, making it essential to set aside time to heal in comfort.
