John Morrow will make another attempt at breaking the world record for push-ups in a minute during the Moline Center Health & Fitness Fair April 30. John Morrow will try again to break the world record for push-ups during the first Moline Center Health & Fitness Fair, Saturday, April 30. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Victory Life Church building, downstairs from John Morrow's Academy of Martial Arts 1321 5th Ave., Moline. Mr. Morrow attempted to break the world record for push-ups during his academy's open house. He succeeded -- unofficially -- at 139 push-ups in a minute. But his videotaped entry to Guinness was disqualified because the sleeves of his shirt covered his elbows. Guinness specifies a 90-degree angle at the elbows between each push-up. Mr. Morrow is keen on breaking the record this year. His attempt will come on the 35th day of his annual fasting on water and juice. Last year's attempt was made on his 41st day of fasting. "I really feel that the choices we make about what we eat and how we exercise have huge consequences for our lives, " says Mr. Morrow. "I'm hoping the Health and Fitness Fair will help people make good choices for themselves." Dwyer and Michaels will MC the fair festivities. Participants will be able to receive a massage, have a chiropractic screening, sample natural foods, visit booths about financial fitness and dentistry, and even have their handwriting analyzed. There also will be prize drawings and give-aways from Moline merchants. "And, world records may be broken, " says Mr. Morrow.
