Once Upon A Time

This store has what Barnes and Nobles kids section does not have - that feeling of childhood. It's just so charming and magical. Wonderful books displayed alongside stuffed animals, stickers and notebooks. My kids and I love the story time here.

This is a cute, cozy store with fun puppets and wood toys for my kids. The nice thing about this store is the layout -- all the books about fairies are in the fairy section, all the transportation books in that section -- it makes picking out a gift that much easier. The store may be small but the selection is really well thought out -- someone must be reading all the time because the books are all great -- not like some of the junk that is at the big bookstores where they just want to sell the best selling things. Here are the gems -- the books that will stay with you and my kids. I love all the events they have -- PJ Storytime rocks!

Have you seen that Tom Hanks/meg Ryan film - "You've Got Mail" about a little bookstore that tries to compete with a huge impersonal big-box store? This shop on Honolulu, seems to be the basis for that movie. Cute, special, charming and cozy are all words to describe this wonderful jewel of a children's bookstore. There are puppets, wooden toys, gifts and a fine selection of adult books (only the good ones). Your kids will not want to leave this place! The books are all hand-picked by the owner and when I mean quality books -- that's what you will get -- not the junk that you see elsewhere. This is a place where you could stay and continue to find little gems of books hidden all around. Check out the staff picks -- some are handwritten by the owner's children, customers and staff. What a delight!

This little indie bookstore is stocked with the best books and fun puppets for my kidos. I love the quaint feel of the place, the storybook murals are fantastic and they have some good books for adult readers, too. What I like best is the selection -- there is no Junk here -- it looks like the books have been very thoughtfully picked. I bring my mom and my out of area friends here to shop - also walk all around this cute Montrose area.
