The Department of Public Works of Nashville delivers a wide range of services to the residents of Nashville/Davidson County in Tennessee. The department manages over 2,200 miles of public roadways; more than 800 signalized intersections; over 6,000 named public streets; over 350 bridges; 1,600 parking meters and approximately 18,000 parking spaces. The department supervises several community recycle drop-off sites and recycle convenience centers. The Department of Public Works of Nashville houses a Metro Beautification and Environment Commission that sponsors a variety of programs and educational opportunities to promote recycling and anti-litter initiatives. The department also offers recycling services for various materials, including newspapers, cardboard, cereal boxes, paperboard, aluminum cans, and glass bottles and jars. Its environmental department s services include, disposal of waste products, maintenance of fire hydrant systems, and utility infrastructure construction and engineering projects. Its office is located in Nashville, Tenn.
