The food and drinks here are really good. The dessert is okay. It is a bit overpriced in my opinion!

My first experience here was great, but no other visits have been up to par. It has a nice view of downtown from Germantown, but the service can be slow and the food inconsistent.

Good place to go for lunch. Great French onion soup. Great salads. Good place for out of town clients to go.

Sometimes they are a little slow for dinner, but then I went for brunch and my mind was blown! Their mimosa special is great, their dishes are delicious, but the best part is the cinnamon sugar bread with strawberry butter at the beginning of brunch! You might have to ask for it, but it is amazing.

I might have lived next door to the place, but I've been here for brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, appetizers and drinks and never once has a meal been less than delicious.
Host/ess, bartender & waitstaff are all welcoming and I've never heard them do less than jump with enthusiasm to give a plethora of recommendations when a guest will ask what to eat - a good sign to me that yes, they've tasted it and they have their favorites!
My general impression of their food is that if you get a dish you could order at a chain restaurant, it'll be better than the chain but not as good as what you could have had. Much creative work has been done with the menu and while not everything is a slam dunk, everything I've ever chosen - grits aside (sorry I hear they're wonderful, they just tasted like nothing to me!) - was extremely yummy. I like that the dinner rolls alone make it worthwhile: morning-noon-night the doughy divinities are swapped from sugared to sweet glazed to the evening's plain.
The atmosphere is fine - nothing offensive, nothing special. The crowd is usually dressier, but I've never felt out of place dressed down for lunch. Brunch and late dinners are distinctly dressier affairs but we weren't snubbed or made to feel inappropriate when we showed up after a spring cleaning session in T-shirts for dinner.

As a nashville native, I've seen many restaurants come and go. Germantown cafe is a staple in our city. The menu is always amazing with generous portions, and the service is always the best. Sunday brunch is a must try along with their French onion soup.
