Shalimar Restaurant

My seemingly never-ending search for a good Indian restaurant in Nashville since leaving the UK brought me to this little goldmine! This restaurant charges a fortune for a sparse menu which doesn't even beat other cheaper establishments for quality and taste. A total con! For example - my husband and I went to Shalimar thinking it would be a treat, as it charges so much more we thought it meant it would be better! WRONG! It simply charged around $16 - $18 for dishes which we have eaten for $9 - $11 at the Best of Indian Cuisine - it looked the same, it tasted the same. In fact, the ONLY difference apart from the overpricing was that it had half the choices of other restaurants. I would only recommend Shalimar if 1- you have more money than sense, 2- you think you need to spend more to prove your worth, 3- you are incapable of recognising a rip off or 4- 1+2+3. It's your choice of course, but once you've added on tax, this is an expensive night for very little.
