Established in 1968, the Allegan County Resource Development Committee is a community action agency that works to combat the causes and effects of human sufferings and poverty in Allegan County, Mich. It receives federal funds from the Community Services Administration to provide various services to county residents. The Allegan County Resource Development Committee offers employment and housing assistance, the Weatherization and Head Start pre-school programs and utility assistance payments, as well as a range of services for seniors. It is a private, nonprofit agency governed by a volunteer board of directors. Its Weatherization program provides low-income homeowners and renters with a range of home maintenance services, including wall and foundation insulation, air leakage reduction and the installation of smoke detectors.
