Overall

Drain Doctor has been our "Go To" company for a few years now. This time it was a suprise blockage. They were here in 1 hour, gave us a reasonable quote for a nighttime response and took care of the issue promptly. Matt Hua was not only very efficient but a polite young man. I appreciated the helpful tips he gave my husband.

Overall
I can't say how happy we were ...

I can't say how happy we were with the service provided by Drain Doctor ! They were great from start to finish.

We had a surprise blockage of the mail line late one afternoon. My attempts to clear the blockage were unsuccessful. We had heard RR was not the company to call so we flipped through the yellow pages found a serious looking ad and called this other 'rooter' who said a plumber would come out between 6:00 and 7:30 pm at 8 pm they rescheduled for 2-4 pm the following day. Yeah right...so we flipped the pages and went with the cartoon ad; Drain Doctor. Why not? They arrived at 9pm and worked until 10:30 trying without success to clear the main line. He originally quoted $350 [because we didn't have a cleanout and he had to remove toilet] but didn't collect a credit card number since the line was still blocked. He scheduled another tech to come out the next morning with hydrojet [$495] and camera.

Matt [#309] arrived as promised and went to work on the blockage. Tried several tricks to no avail. Matt said there probably was a break in the main line [uggh!] and we could either patch it or replace the entire line to the city line. We chose to replace the entire line. He said 2-4 days to complete the project. It took 3.

He gave us a quote and the final bill reflected that quote.

To get the work done they:

1) worked one day from 9 am to 8:30 pm [it was dark, windy and cold that evening] to make sure we had access to showers and toilet that night

2) had several set backs including a very stubborn blockage and soft soil that cost them 3 or 4 hours while they ran to Home Depot to buy lumber to rig up a frame to prevent the machines from sinking. Maurilio used his carpentry skills to make frame.

3) worked the entire weekend and New Year's eve

Additionally:

1) they patiently answered my endless questions and explained why they were doing a certain process. [I learned a lot !] They also showed me where the eroded pipe had blown out its bottom and dirt had entered the pipe; causing a mini-sink hole in the lawn.

2) cleaned out the city portion of the blockage. I estimate it was 95% blocked. And showed me the camera snaking through the pipes to prove the blockage was clear and where there might be a problem in the future [city clay pipes were no longer butted up perfectly, providing catch points]

3) installed an additional cleanout to make future blockage problems easier to clear

4) were respectful of the landscaping

5) were professional, courteous and cheerful at all times [except Mr. Lee - who was concentrating on keeping the equipment running I guess]

6) Matt gave me advice on how to fix other problems in the house; how to repair a slow drain, replace old faucet in bathroom etc.

7) Matt reported that the heating air ducting was disconnected to the bathroom when he emerged from crawling under the house to get a visual on the sewer routing and direction of sewer flow.

8) cleaned up all messes inside and outside

9) made suggestions on how to keep the sewer pipes healthy.

10) they never complained, I would have used choice words numerous times if I had been in their shoes.

I had several neighbors stop by to chat and discuss the project and their plumbing experiences [usually bad]. They observed the same things I did and I ended up getting them business cards for DD [actually a yellow star refrigerator magnet].

You may think I am somehow connected to DD but I am not. I made the dreaded cold call for a plumber and after ditching the first one ended up with DD and wanted to share my good experience with others. I hope you receive the same courtesy and professionalism when you call Drain Doctor.

Mike

I probably wouldn't have selected DD had I read the YELP reviews before hand. I can't imagine that those one star ratings refer to the same company that came to my house. Give them a try.
