Dental Examination

Teeth Cleaning
If plaque remains on the teeth for any length of time, it can leave a permanent white scar on the surface. An electric toothbrush or a waterpik can be a useful addition, however, please continue to see your dentist at least every 6 months for regular dental cleanings.

Dr. Keesler brings his knowledge of complex bite problems, facial esthetics, missing permanent teeth, dental implants, temporomandibular disorders and multi-disciplinary dentistry to Keesler Orthodontics. He is one of only several orthodontists internationally to have earned a master’s degree in both orthodontics and prosthodontics. This combination allows him to work in partnership with your family dentist to provide additional dental work even after the braces are removed. Dr. Keesler has been in specialty practice since 1990 and is involved in several prestigious study clubs. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American College of Prosthodontists and many other local and national dental associations such as the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Oral Surgery
Jaw Surgery
Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.
Tooth Extractions
Evaluation before the age of 7 provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. Early treatment can guide erupting teeth into a more favorable position, regulate the width of the upper and lower dental arches, gain space for permanent teeth, avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions, reduce the likelihood of impacted permanent teeth, correct thumb sucking, and eliminate abnormal swallowing or speech problems. When orthodontic intervention is not necessary, an orthodontist can carefully monitor growth and development and begin treatment when it is ideal.
