First Site Apartments

I tried to give 0 stars - 1 is too many!!!! These people will mislead a college student into signing a lease... then when given over 7 months notice that a student needs to get out of the lease - they threaten to sue and say that they can't re-let the apartment in time .... REALLY .... 7MONTHS ... how terrible they must be at their job...

Their communication and service is terrible. I have had several issues with their service and have gotten very little help from their company. Management as well was not helpful in the slightest when issues were escalated. Their apartments and location are both great.

First site kept my entire deposit and lease was only for 3 months. So for 3 months they asked me for 500 $. Out of 3 months I was out of country for 2 months. I explained them everything but seems they don't have hearts. They sent me bunch of old screenshots and told me we charged for them.
PLEASE DO NOT RENT FIRST SITE EVER IN YOUR LIFE......!!

They are the most friendly staff only till you rent with them. By the time you plan to move out, make sure you have saved enough money to pay their extra heavy fines. They will just entice you with a bit lower rates. After you move out, you will realise that you have paid atleast a 100 bucks more per month on an average, apart from your security deposit. They charge you for all the mess made by you and not made by you. They charge you for every bit of dust they see with the help of their torch light during your move out inspection. Their inspection rules are so tactically framed that you cannot escape fines. No matter how much thoroughly you clean, their inspection staff have xray eyes to trace out invisible dots and bits of dust. I was personally present during the move out inspection and was so shocked to see how thoroughly they examine the whole apartment. I had this worst experience with them twice and finally decided to post this. I heard the same kind of bad experience with my friends who rented with them.

They should have a ZERO stars button. My experience mirrors the experience of most people on here, but primarily it's about keeping the security deposit. They seem to make most of their revenue from scamming deposits out of people. Being a landlord myself, nobody ever leaves the apartment in move in condition for the next guy. A cost of doing business is having the place cleaned. Even if you clean it thoroughly, they will still charge you for cleaning it. They know you probably won't bother going to court to get your deposit back, so they've got you by the balls and they know it. Do yourself a favor....DO NOT RENT FROM FIRST SITE. You will save yourself lots of headaches in the future.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. First off let's start with the fact I've been leasing from them for over a year. Got transferred to a bigger 2 bedroom with nicer amenities thinking that I'll stay here for a while. It's been nothing but problems. Took me a week to get a new fridge after I moved in and mine was broken. Also I have a broken window frame that they still have not fixed a month into living here. My washer went out after doing 4 loads of laundry and I've been waiting about a week for that to get replaced only to also find out now that 2 of the 4 stove burners are out as well. So we will have to see how quick they get that fixed. So far with this experience I am to the point I will never rent from first site again. And I cannot wait til this currents lease is up and I can find a more reputable agency to rent from.

I've had an absolutely awful experience with First Site. When I came home from winter break my neighbor informed me that maintenance had not only left our door unlocked but wide open for the entire month of December. This is the second time maintenance has left our door unlocked. My roommate and I are extremely lucky nothing was stolen from our apartment. When I went into the First Site offices to inform them of this issue I was told no one was available to speak with me and I would just have to fill out a complaint form. I asked if someone could please call me either that day or the next so I could be reassured this wouldn't happen again. It has now been over a week and I haven't received any form of communication from them regarding the matter. If you are looking for a reality company to go through at ISU I would highly discourage you from going through First Site. Your things aren't safe here and the staff is unwilling to communicate with their renters in a timely manner. I went through Young America Reality last year and never had a problem with them.
