Run Away!



The new manager is a nightmare to deal with and I can't wait for my lease to be up. I have addressed my concerns with the company that owns these apartments (Northstar), but received completely unhelpful responses from them too.



Currently they are doing renovations and the manager has no respect for the law or tenant safety. Construction workers enter my apartment without knocking at 8:30 in the morning without the required 24 hours' notice. The next week, I opened my front door at 9:15 am to find that my staircase had been completely removed with no warning! Both times, I confronted the manager and she seemed completely unconcerned.



In addition, the construction is not up to code. My balcony had no railing for over a week, uprights on the stair railings have nails sticking out in all 4 directions and look like a good breeze could blow them over, all exterior lights have been removed and the wires are sticking out without even caps to protect them from the weather, and the new doors are so poorly installed I can feel a breeze around the edges and hear everything outside. Beyond the construction, the manager is still a pain to deal with. My future employer overnighted me some paperwork via FedEx which ended up in the office with no slip on my door. It took the manager nearly 2 months and several visits to the office before she finally told me she had it.



Maintenance is incredibly slow on the major stuff. My heater went out winter 2014 and it took them over a week to fix it. Now it's mid July and my A/C is out. When I moved in I had no shower curtain rod and the door for the bedroom was the wrong size so I couldn't close it for over a month.



The neighborhood is not particularly desirable either. I regularly see police cars around the area and I've seen several arrests in progress while driving by.
