ITC Holdings is the holding company that wholly owns International Transmission Company one of the first independently owned and operated electricity transmission companies in the United States. The company s subsidiary, International Transmission, operates, maintains and invests in transmission infrastructure to enhance system integrity and reliability and relieve transmission constraints. By pursuing this goal, ITC seeks to reduce the overall cost of delivered energy for end-use consumers by providing them with access to electricity from the lowest cost electricity generation sources. International Transmission owns a fully-regulated, high-voltage system that transmits electricity to local electricity distribution facilities from generating stations in Michigan and surrounding areas. The local distribution facilities connected to the ITC transmission system serves a population of approximately 4.9 million people in an area comprised of 13 southeastern Michigan counties, which includes the Detroit metropolitan area.
