General Info

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Dr. Jason Choorapuzha grew up in Bloomfield. He went to Central Catholic then Fox Chapel High Schools, then attended the University of Pittsburgh on a full academic scholarship. While there, he earned a BS is Psychology as well as a BA in Philosophy. In addition, he spent four years as a coxswain on the University of Pittsburgh rowing club. Upon graduation, Dr. Choorapuzha attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where her earned his DMD. During this time, he served his class for two years as Vice President then two as President. He was also initiated into the Sigma Chapter of the Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity. In his fourth year, he received the Delta Dental Student Leadership Award. Following dental school, Dr. Choorapuzha was accepted into the General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. During this one year residency program, he was deemed to have a top table clinic presentation at the Minnesota Dental Association's Star of the North Meeting with the speech, "Kidney Disease and the Dental Practitioner." It was also during this time that Dr. Choorapuzha met his wife, Lydia. While in Minnesota, Dr. Choorapuzha had the privilege of working with Apple Tree Dental, a nonprofit dental group which focused on caring for the elderly (in their office as well as on site in nursing homes) as well as patients with special needs. It was during this time that he developed his gentle touch approach to dentistry. In the summer of 2014, Dr. Choorapuzha and his wife returned to Pittsburgh, where they live with their son Mark and two dogs. He is proud to practice in the historic Oakmont suburb with Dr. Richard Defilippo.
