Weber County Public Defenders

I REPORTED THE PUBLIC DEFENDERS OFFICE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE. THEY CALLED ME AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS TO TELL ME TO COMPLAIN TO THE PUBLIC DEFENDERS OFFICE. I SAID EVERY TIME IVE BROUGHT ANY THING TO ANYONES ATTENTION, IM BEING HARASSED EVEN MORE. THE PUBLIC DEFENDER ONLY YELLS AT ME, AND NOT ONCE HAS TALKED TO ME IN A NORMAL TONE. SO I GET ON HERE TO SEE THE VERY FIRST COMPLAINT IS ABOUT MR RETALIC, WELL WOW!! I REALLY THOUGHT HE JUST HATED ME.? WHY IDK,, BUT HE HAS ONLY SCREEMED AT ME, TOLD ME TO SELL SOMETHING TO HIRE MYSELF AN ATTORNEY. REFUSES TO SPEAK TO ME, AND THE BEING YELLED AT IS SO UNESSESARY. I ASKED HIS SECRETARY TO PLEASE LETS GET A COURT DATE TO GET ANOTHER PUBLIC DEFENDER ASSIGNED. BUT WHEN I CALLED HIS OFFICE, I WAS TOLD NO HE'S HAS TO REPRESENT YOU BECAUSE THE JUDGE ORDERED IT. I SAID WELL YA BUT HE REFUSES TO SPEAK TO ME AND IM NOT GUILTY I HAVENT DONE NOTHING WRONG AND HE IS DOING NOTHING. I DONT WANT TO PUT MY LIFE IN THIS GUYS HANDS.

My son got a new oublic defender. He had James Retallick at first. He told my son that he was guilty and he needed to take the plea that was being offered. My son refused to plea. He insists that he is not guilty and wont plea. An attorney is suppose to believe their client and fight for them. They had a power struggle and retallick yelled at my son and puffed up his chest at my son. He wanted my son to hit him. He kicked my son out of his office and from what some of the other public defenders said, Retallick was telling other attorneys that my son threatened him. I am so glad that my husband and i accompanied my son to his office that day, it was Retallick that threatened my son. None of the other Public defenders wanted to take his case because of Retallicks false allegations. So my son got stuck with Sean a b d had to tell shawn what to do d y ribg trial because he knew nothing about the case! Thank God my son is alrticulate and studied the law while waiting for trial. That entire court experience was an eye opener for me. The lies and deceit by the people who sre suppose to protect us, has made me unable to trust anyone in the justice system. Emily Swenson and Randall Richards are the CREAM of the CROP! I only trust them, through and through!

Not being white makes no difference he is one of the worst public defender out of them all..I am saying they all don't care. You can't even request a new one. They won't fight for you either. Isn't it innocent then they haveto prove you guilt.. Not here in Utah anyway. Been trying to get hold of this tyman for months. If u can't afford a attorney you are just screwed

I have been trying to call my son's public defender since august 2014, Sean Young. He will not return phone calls. All I get is an answering machine every time! I'm going to higher resources to get some action. The whole team of public defenders in weber county do not care at all. Especially if you are not white!
