I have just returned from the one of the most horrible ordeals of my life at the Ultra store in Osage Beach, Missouri - 1 1/2 hours away from me. I called last night before making the trip and talked to the sales associate about trading in a diamond ring of my deceased step-mother's. I even had all receipts which I brought with me to the store. He said I would be able to get some jewelry for the price of the ring and no extra money to be paid. I got there and he told me the same thing and showed me the diamond policy and told my family and me they used to have a buy-up policy and luckily for us it has changed. He talked with his 'jeweler' to see what he could do bout buying the ring.







Apparently he already had had a buyer for the ring I brought in because he told me a couple wanted that kind of ring and he had their phone number.After 1 hour, he told me the price they could trade the ring for. So my husband and I picked out wedding bands and my kids got something. He and the manager both worked with all of us to get jewelry. After picking out the jewelry, they kept track of the total and then told us that what we picked out would be about even with a little extra for tax.







When we went to check out, the manager told us we owed over $1000.The original sales associate did some numbers on the calculator and said it was only $72.00. The manager became VERY irate and loudly told him about the buy-up policy. We were in total shock.

The sales assocaite readily admitted that he had apparently made a mistake and did tell me that on the phone and did tell us about the policy change in the store. But the manager continued to raise her voice to us.

The sales associate acted as shocked as we were and apparently made an honest mistake. Of course, we cancelled the rings and got our other ring back and the paper work showing the amount of trade for the ring.







I told him we would never have come

1 1/2 hours had he not told me that on Friday night. The sales associate said he was sorry and that he had, indeed, told me that it would be even trade for the ring. I am upset beyond words. I am out an entire day, gas, lunch, and the utter dissapointment is beyond describeable. We spent over 2 hours picking out beautiful rings and jewelry. I feel what the sales associate told us several times should be honored.
