Fluoride Treatment
There once was a time when we associated fluoride treatments mainly with children’s dental care, but modern applications can benefit all patients. Increasing numbers of adults are having fluoride applied to their teeth during their routine visits at Oswego Dental Group.
Dental Sealants
Preventative Treatments ׀ The best way to avoid some of the most common dental problems and maintain strong, healthy teeth and gums is to restrict the causal factors. We support these goals with preventative treatments such as fluoride, sealants, snore guards, bite guards and diagnostic x-rays.
Space Maintainers

Fillings
Gold. Gold fillings are fabricated in a lab and cemented into place. Gold fillings are very strong and well tolerated by surrounding gum tissue.
Resin Composite
Composite resin. A blend of polymer resin and powdered glass, composite resin fillings are currently used to restore most teeth. Beyond being mercury-free, they are shaded to match the natural tooth color.
Veneers
To change a tooth’s color or shape, a thin, white shell of medical-grade porcelain is bonded onto it. In contrast to porcelain crowns, porcelain veneers usually require very little tooth reduction before being placed. A small, hand-held camera is used to capture an image which is transferred to our lab over secure internet connection. This makes the process easier, quicker and more accurate.
Bridges
Most overdentures have between two and six abutments for providing proper stabilization. This solution is ideal for patients looking for a lower-cost alternative to an All-On-Four fixed bridge.
Dental Bonding

Root Canal Treatment
Sometimes bacteria can enter the pulp and cause a dental abscess indicated by the symptoms above. When the tooth is infected, endodontic treatment (a root canal) is needed to save it.

Periodontal Surgery
Some patients with a serious gum infection may require more-extensive treatment, including possible periodontal surgery. In this event, the Oswego Dental Group dentist will typically refer the patient to a partner periodontist, which is a dental expert in treating gum disease.
Deep Cleaning
Scaling: If gum disease or irritation is detected, scaling – also referred to as conventional periodontal therapy – is a deep cleaning of the gums. Like debridement, it can also involve the removal of plaque and tartar, as well as dentin that can contain tartar, toxins or microorganisms (all agents that can cause gum inflammation).

Dentures
Dentures are replacement teeth. Reasons for needing dentures might be an accident, an injury, a disease or a lack of oral care. Tooth loss requiring replacement teeth can sometimes have a hereditary factor as well.

Dental Implants
Computerized Tomography allows dentists to obtain “cone beam” images of patients’ teeth and jaws. This technology allows us to view teeth in ways that are not possible with traditional x-rays. It is very useful in certain circumstances to help us detect tooth fractures, diagnose jaw joint problems and map jaw anatomy for implant placement.

Gum Surgery
There are several types of dental lasers currently approved for use in dental offices. Lasers energy can be harnessed in various ways to treat certain dental conditions. These have been used to perform gum surgery and even anesthetic-free cavity removal. One of the newest and most interesting applications of lasers is their use in quick and painless diagnostic testing. A new device called a “Diagnodent” instrument uses a low-energy laser beam to detect tooth decay that in the past was otherwise invisible to us.
Tooth Extractions
DO NOT DISTURB THE AREA: For the next few days, and especially the first 24 hours, it is very important to allow your body to form a good clot and start the natural healing process. Swishing, sucking through a straw, and smoking can all dislodge the clot. Keep anything sharp from entering the wound (crunchy food, toothpicks, eating utensils). Be sure to chew on the opposite side for 24 hours.

Braces
Clear Orthodontic Tray Treatment ׀ Digital impressions and 3D-printed models for mapping straighter teeth and smiles. Notably less visible than regular braces, clear aligner trays resolve factors such as gaps in the smile or crooked or crowded teeth.

Teeth Whitening
The most common treatment uses a precision-fitted tray and a concentrated bleaching gel placed in it. The tray is seated over the teeth, where it remains for a few hours per day. Whether worn by day or at night, the bleaching tray contributes to a brighter, whiter smile.
