I had a fantastic experience at z! My stylist, Brittney was very professional and listened to my wants and suggestions. She and the instructors took the time to make sure the job was done correctly. I will definitely be going there from now on to get my hair done.

I am about half way through my schooling at Z Hair Academy and I have to say I made the absolute best decision by choosing to come here. Everyone is so welcoming and professional, I don't know how anyone could say otherwise! The instructors are very friendly, knowledgeable, & are shaping me to become not only a great hairstylist, but a great person as well! If anyone is looking to start their journey into the cosmetology industry I would say hands down this is the place to be. Ron & Judi, the owners, go above and beyond for our students and do a fantastic job at teaching us all how to become professional, independent, cosmetologist's. Z Hair Academy rocks!!

As stated below by another student, I definitely did my research before committing to a cosmetology school. Lucky for me, it ended at Z's. Going to Z's was my far the best decision I've made to jump start my career. I've learned so much, had great opportunities to experiment with top of the line products, worked on clients as if in a real salon, made great friends, taken classes from well-known stylists in the industry, and have had the chance to be educated by what I feel are the best instructors in the area. Ron and Judi clearly show a love for their business, the industry itself, their clients, and their students. I enjoy going to school every day, and would recommend Z Hair Academy to ANYONE!

When I first looked into going to Hair school I researched every single hair school in the Kansas City area thoroughly. Let me tell you why I chose Z Hair. This is the only school in the area that has you work on hair (mannequin hair) from the first day of school. It is run like a salon. We not only learn basic techniques but we also learn how to free hand cut and color hair in the most up to date methods around. Our tools are nothing but the best. Where other schools skimp on mannequins, cheaper hair dryers and shears, we get Chi tools, and right now I have 7 mannequin heads that I've worked on so far. We just had a class with Suzie Bond and Steven Cristobal not to mention Sue Pemberton who was in Manhattan, KS a few months back. Just a few huge hairdressers in the industry. They recommended us to use the newest hair color product line. Some of the best salons in the area don't even carry it because of the price. Guess who is upgrading to the best? This hair school. Z Hair charges a fourth of the price to color hair with THE BEST EXCLUSIVE products in the industry. By the way the only way you can offer this product at any salon is if you buy into it!! I'd say Ron and Judi truly care about this industry. I know that unlike some other business owners out there Judi truly stands behind her students. I feel so prepared to take on what life has to offer me whether it's working at a local salon, moving to another state and working there, or opening up my own business. Thank you Z Hair SO MUCH!!!!
I am also a student at Z, however the one in Lawrence, and I completely agree with this review!! Ron and Judi are doing everything they can to help us students learn about the best with the best. No other school does that.

I'm the student who was assigned to do Stacy's hair (the woman in the 2 posts below). First of all, she did NOT have a coupon, that's a complete lie. I'm not sure if she thought that would make her point more valid, but that part of the story is a lie. Secondly, she had hair to the middle of her back and it was very thick. Any customer with this long of hair would've been charged $77 for an all over color, highlights and a cut (sounds like a pretty good price to me), but when my instructor came over to Stacy and I to tell her the price, she immediately through a fit, saying she had previously been charged $30 for this type of service. So my instructor nicely said, "okay, well let me pull up your previous visits" and sure enough she had previously been charged the same $77 and my instructor even showed her when she asked to see. She then continued to throw a fit, arguing with my instructors and with Judi. Then ultimately came back to sit in my chair, when I kindly asked "Did we get everything figured out?" she replied with "I'm not happy" which Judi could hear her saying these things to me because my chair is next to the front desk. Judi could tell, I was uncomfortable with the situation and very hesitant, so she came over and asked how everything was going and Stacy again replied "I'm not happy", seeing the uncomfortable look on my face, Judi replied "Then you can leave", Stacy exclaimed, "I'm very internet savvy and I'm going to trash your name all over the interent for this!". Any owner who truly cares about the well being of their students/stylists would have done the exact same thing. This kind of incident has never happened in my time of going to Z Hair Academy, and I'm about to graduate, so I've been here for 11 months. It's not a usual thing, but when Judi can tell that her students are uncomfortable with a situation, that's when she's going to step in and I thank her for that. I cannot believe the nerve of this woman, not to mention this is a grown woman and she has nothing better to do except post rude things about something that happened because of her own rudeness. I feel bad for the next salon that has this woman walk through their doors. BEWARE OF HER, not us. This is an amazing school, and my experience here has been nothing but a joy (except for this one client of course). One more thing, EVERY student at this school has nothing but love and nice things to say about Judi, and I know for a fact that Stacy has not talked to any of the graduated students, because I'm friends with all of them. The fact that she even says this is laughable. I'm posting because when I saw this post, I was shocked by how untrue the entire story was, so I thought I'd offer the honest story of what happened. Thanks for listening and I hope you'll stop in and try out Z Hair Academy for yourselves, cause I can tell you it'll be a very pleasant experience:)

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and go somewhere else. Overpriced for poor customer service.
Hi Stacy, you are as you said internet savvy using multiple names to yelp the same complaint. You get back what you give out and if you received poor customer service you may be a poor customer.
