The Willows Apartments

The new management has been great. Any problems were fixed within 24 hours, and they are on site now. They are building a fitness center too.

We lived here for two years and I would not recommend it to anyone. For nearly $1000/month you get very little for your money; there is no office staff onsite, the office is very slow to return phone calls, especially if you have an issue you want to talk to them about. There is no swimming pool, club house, fitness room, onsite.



Our hot water heater started acting up and they told us to wait until spring to see if it was just cold water hitting the heating element that was causing the problem. Six months later the water heater was still not working properly, they finally sent someone out to look at it. The water heater had actually been leaking for a while and the mechanic said it could have burst and flooded the apartment any day. Our garbage disposal was broken for over a year when we finally decided to just fix it ourselves. The walls between the apartments are incredibly thin; we could hear our next door neighbor's alarm clock every morning, and we could hear every foot step our neighbors upstairs took. There was a draft that came in somewhere through the wall of our bedroom and that side of the room was always chilly in the winter. Snow removal was a joke. This complex is literally the last place in Peoria to be plowed. By the time the plow would come out the roads had been driven on so much that the plow didn't do anything anyway. The plow also plowed one of my neighbor's cars in and he had to hand-shovel about 4 Ft of snow out from behind his car.



Lastly, at our move-out inspection we were told everything was great and nothing was written on our inspection sheet. However when we got our deposit back we had a list of things that they charged us for, one being a light fixture that was "missing", but was actually in the apartment. They also charges to clean the carpets, which is illegal. When I tried to call the office to ask them about the charges I got their answering machine (you will ALWAYS the machine when you call) and no one has returned my message as of yet. Stay away from the Willows!
