I have bought 3 guns from this man in the last 6 months. He has always been pleasant and is extremely knowledgeable. He has great inventory and is reasonably priced. Can't wait till tonight to pick up my new Henry rifles.

Overall

After reviewing some of the reviews on this business, I went in today to buy an item for my husband. They did not have it in stock but the gentleman running the store was very helpful and said he could order it and if I didn't want it when it came in I didn't have to take it. This gentleman was very pleasant and went out of his way to get what I needed. I personally feel that probably the people that have had problems with this gentleman had a bad attitude and personality. Usually when someone gets "smart mouthed" with another person, that person can get the same way. I was really impressed on how much inventory these people have in their store. I will be back.

the owner is a very rude guy and is not helpful at all. i will never never spend another dime in his store and i hope nobody else ever does either. If your looking for a good small gun store with good prices go to kramer's gun in ladd. The lady who owns it is very nice, extremely helpful and her prices are great.

I have purchased multiple guns...

Lots of gun knowledge and good prices

I have purchased multiple guns and ammo from Mark and his wife. I have always been happy with the service and have always been impressed with his sheer knowledge of all arms related information and his vast knowledge of reloading. Great prices too on guns and ammo. Won't let people come in either and buy all of one kind of ammo, which is nice because it gives everyone a chance to buy some ammo.

i couldn't agree more

I definately felt the same way as first reviewer. I've been in the shop once where the owner operator was extremely pissy, asking for my foid card while i was browsing. When i didn't have it with me he was rude and borderline offensive. 2 years later i went in to check his prices on a revolver and shotgun that i was interested in (with my FOID card this time) he was nice to me. But i somehow got the feeling he was nice only to get a sale... BTW he was a combined $145 more expensive than Kramers gun shop in Ladd, IL. The store offers a nice selection and he seems very knowledgeable, but i guess i would rather be treated decent and help gaining information.... not looked down upon.

Could be better, could be worse.

I've been to this place a few times and spent a bit of money there, but I'm still looking for a better place to make my regular gun shop. The prices seem fair enough, but the store is small and cramped (only room for a couple customers in there at once). There is a fair inventory considering the size of the place, but it's still not much (though I don't know what the owner keeps in back). One thing I do like is that the long guns are on a rack to the side of the counter so the customer can walk right up to them and have a look without having to ask to see this or that. My biggest complaint however, is that the owner is just like the owners of so many gun shops: a moody, sometimes crotchety older fella who often acts like he's doing you a favor by waiting on you. Sometimes he can be pretty decent and helpful, and he seems knowledgeable enough, but you never know what kind of mood he'll be in when you walk in the door. I realize gun shops are sort of a special kind of business, but they are still businesses and should always treat their customers as valued customers, not hassles. Foot traffic in the store, even if the person doesn't buy much in that particular visit, is a vital thing for small businesses, and if you don't want to deal with people, you shouldn't be a small businessman. Overall, I'd say the place serves it's purpose, but there is definitely room for improvement.
