- Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world and now is a museum with exhibits, tours and programs. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts. Admission to Museum includes: "The Voices of Eastern State" Audio Tour, One-hour guided tour, Hands-On History Interactive Experiences, History Exhibits and Series of Artist Installations.

Go to jail, directly to jail. Walk through the jail, and sometimes view an interesting art installation. It really is a fascinating place.
