I agree with the other reviewer who called James Hoel a scam artist. It is my understanding that this business has closed. We had a "fixed cost", written contract with him last fall to provide "drying out" services, after we had a water leak. This was paid for by credit card and after the work was done, he made an "unauthorized" charge on the credit card for an additional $1870.24. Now, he appears to have closed his business office in Port Charlotte and is avoiding the County Sheriff's attempts to serve him with court papers. He may be setting up other companies in the Venice area to do this same type of work. Please don't make the same mistake that we did. There are plenty of reputable companies out there who do this type of work.

DCR showed up very quickly and was attentive. Their billing had MUCH to be desired. Without hand holding, they were unable to split the billing properly, this was two weeks after they submitted the initial, incorrect bill to us. Next, they billed our card for the full amount three days after FINALLY correcting the bill. They refused to be nice to our wonderful insurance agent, refused to submit the bill to her properly and refused to get back to us on the issue to discuss it with us.

The work was fine but I would not recommend them to anyone because of the overall poor communication skills and billing practices.

Additionally, they sent a nice guy over to "check for mold". He was nice and did good work, he was very neat and tidy. He told me there was no mold. James reported to the insurance company that the results were "inconclusive" after the mold guy cut out a 2'X2' piece of drywall (that I, a housewife with no drywall experience) had to repair on my own. Insurance sent a REAL mold inspector who used tiny holes under the baseboard to do a REAL mold inspection.

James Hoel visited us to examine our home for potential mold. He takes his time, explains everything well, and suggests solutions to the potential problems one may have. Gave us referrals and did not charge us anything for his visit. We were very impressed.
