Honestly - I would give them 10 stars if that were an option. I am so thankful that I found Joe and Audio Exchange. I have a brand new built-out Sprinter van that was 6-months in the making. One remaining task was to complete the connection of the rear amp and speakers - should have been relatively straight-forward - but turned out to be anything but. Unfortunately the wires that had been pre-run during the build had been compromised at some point. Options from the van builder (in another state) were to run new wires UNDER the van (not good on a 4wd!). Joe and his team took care of the issue - the right way. Carefully deconstructing portions of the van and fishing in new wire - returning the van in perfect condition. With upgraded front speakers and a cross-over by Audio Exchange, with the now working rear amp and speakers - the system sounds AWESOME. I am SO GLAD I worked with Audio Exchange on this - they are true professionals. Expert, communicative and responsive. I was stressed - and Joe was continuously calm and positive. They were / are fantastic. 15 stars. I will use them for every audio need going forward. Seriously super.
I was looking for an audio store in Raleigh n 1979, 2 years after finishing at NCSU.
I called Joe Flanagan’s business about some Focal speakers and realized immediately I should have contacted Joe in 1979. When it comes to Audio knowledge Joe Flanagan reminds me of a college professor, except he breaks down audio information, so even I can understand it. I highly recommend Audio Exchange and please speak with Joe Flanagan before making your next audio purchase.

My Classe amp and preamp never sounded it’s full potential and after spending hours trying to teach myself more information on the in-depth workings of the Classe preamp and giving up on any help from the Audio store that sold me this system. I decided to see if Joe could check my gear since I was on the verge of throwing the entire system in the trash. Well, Joe spend a good day studying Classe Manuel’s as he worked on my preamp. I received a call from Joe informing me what he did and why, well my preamp now works better than when I purchase the system. I would like to say, Joe is for real, this guy knows more about the Audio workings and the sensitive nature that could lessen performance than anyone I know. I encourage audio gear heads like me to have Joe do a check on your equipment and discover if your gear is playing it’s full potential.
I picked up mu gear took some helpful notes and off to hook my gear to my speakers. I remember playing a cd I have listen to a so much I could repeat all the songs. As this cd played my eyes teared-up, (you audio guys know the feeling) when this cd for the first time played sounds I never heard before. I was up all night playing cd’s and DVD’s listening to sounds I never heard before. Meeting Joe was luck, and I will repeat my only regret is not meeting him in 1979. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. This is one review I enjoyed writing.

Purchased a pair of Revel Performa F208s a few years back and it was a great experience. Joe knows his industry and i had fun listening to music for a few hours on many different systems.
Great place to just stop by and hang out.

Audio Exchange has been a Raleigh fixture on Hillsboroough St. for a very long time. I cannot say enoug positive things about it. Joe, the owner, knows audio and he really enjoyed helping others learn about it. Most recently, he helped me—yet again—with a car unit I purchased two years ago. It needed a software update and Joe took care of it for me. And I just “dropped in”—no appointment. If you haven’t been to Audio Exchange you should go now...with all the construction and changes happening all around his shop, there is no tellling how long it will be before a developer buys the building where Joe has been for nearly 30 years.

My 2004 Lexus SC430 was badly need of an audio update. Joe Flanagan was so helpful. These guys KNOW THEIR STUFF!!! My new system was installed this week and it looks original, works perfectly and is integrated into the car as if it were always there. I now have a convertible with all the extras of a new one but the model I always wanted. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Audio Exchange.
