We stayed at the Lake House Hotel recently - and found it to be a great alternative to a typical hotel stay. The building has been updated considerably and has beautiful floors, woodwork and character. We found our room to be very nice and well appointed. The beds were like clouds! The bathroom new and clean. Our kids enjoyed exploring this big, beautiful building and also really liked having the common areas that were large enough for several people to congregate. The little town is unique and has shops to explore, too. We were close to the lake - a minute or two down the road - where the Lake House restaurant accommodated us well. The food was excellent - and the sunset reminded us of Key West - simply gorgeous. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel - it was perfect for the needs of our family.

I stayed at the Lake House for three nights this August and it is indeed the best alternative to a hotel that I have found and I have traveled a lot personally and in my work. The room was homey and clean, the bed very comfortable and any problems were immediately fixed including the owner Chris Corrigan moving furniture to make the room more comfortable for me. I loved the sitting coffee area where you could meet other travelers to discuss your plans and learn about places to visit. I can not say enough good things about Chris...her efficiency and warm personality. I highly recommend The Lake House as a place to stay to truly enjoy the upper NY state hospitality and the view of the sunset over the lake with a good glass of wine.

We had a family gathering here - 42 people in all. It was a great place to meet. The kids loved running around exploring the lake, woods, etc. My mom organized everything and I know the proprietor was very patient with her in working out all the details. My cousin mailed his golf game - hula hoops and flags, we played golf on the lawn in front of the lake.
The resort is a little slice of heaven with great mountain views, lake views and great for star gazing you just can't replicate in town.
We had a week of memories here that will last us a life time.
Room Tip: The lawn by the lake was perfect for the kids to play.
