Dental Examination
X-rays
Diagnostic tests are essential when planning implant surgery. These include photographs and dental impressions of your mouth, digital dental x-rays, and a cone beam CT scan that provides detailed 3-D images of your jaws and existing teeth. Your CT scan allows us to identify important structures that must be avoided during implant placement and to assess the quality and quantity of bone available for implants.

Resin Composite
Once your implants have fully healed and fused with your jawbone ( osseointegration ), you can return to our dental office so we can take a detailed impression of your implants. The impression is used to create your final restoration, whether an implant crown, bridge, or denture. Crowns and bridges are screwed or cemented onto the implant abutment. They will likely be screwed in place using a hole that goes straight through the implant crown. Once in place, the hole is covered with tooth-colored composite resin so it is invisible. This solution allows an implant dentist to retrieve the restoration more easily if maintenance is required.
Crowns
A natural tooth consists of a root and a crown. If you compare natural teeth to implant-supported replacement teeth, you’ll see they have the same basic parts. Both have a crown (the visible part used to chew food). Both have a root that holds the tooth securely under the gum and is anchored into the jaw. The difference is that the implant is made of titanium – the same time-tested material used by surgeons for artificial joints. For people missing all upper or lower teeth, there are several implant-supported replacement options available. Dental Implants
Bridges
Dental implants can support implant crowns and bridges or hold dentures securely in the mouth. We can restore single, multiple, or complete arches of teeth with dental implants, implant-supported dentures. Implant crowns and bridges are non-removable and are screwed or cemented onto the abutments. Implant dentures are removable and clip onto special attachments on the implants.
Dental Bonding
A dental fracture can occur due to trauma or injury to the tooth. It can range from minor chips and cracks to more severe damage that exposes the tooth’s pulp. Our experienced dentists can assess the extent of the fracture and recommend the most appropriate treatment, which may include dental bonding, a dental crown, or a root canal.

Root Canal Treatment
Luxation occurs when a tooth is displaced or pushed out of its socket due to an impact or injury. Depending on the severity of the displacement, our dentists may be able to reposition the tooth or recommend additional treatment, such as a splint or root canal.

Dentures
A small amount of bleeding is to be expected following the operation. If bleeding occurs, place a gauze pad directly over the bleeding socket and apply biting pressure for 30 minutes. If bleeding continues, a moist tea bag can be used for 30 minutes. Avoid hot liquids, exercise, and elevate the head if bleeding occurs. If bleeding persists, call our office immediately. Do not remove the immediate denture unless the bleeding is severe. Expect some oozing around the side of the denture.

Dental Implants
A dental implant is a screw or post made from medical-grade zirconia or titanium alloy surgically implanted into the jawbone to replace a complete tooth, including the root. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and well-tolerated. For example, a single dental implant can be inserted in 30-60 minutes.

Jaw Surgery
Dr. Brown has received extensive training in dental alveolar surgery, implantology, advanced bone grafting, management of TMJ disorders, and orthognathic surgery. As a chief resident, she was also awarded the Philip J. Boyne Scholarship and was then selected to complete an externship with the Geistlich Bio-oss/Osteo-Science Foundation.
Maxillofacial Surgery
A native of New York, Dr. Falk graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then attended Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry in Cleveland, Ohio. He went on to complete a General Practice Residency at Western Massachusetts Hospital and then completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the V.A. Hospital in East Orange, NJ.
Tooth Extractions
After tooth extraction, it’s important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That’s why we ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes after the appointment. If the bleeding or oozing still persists, insert another gauze pad and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times.
Bone Grafting
At this stage, we can provide a more accurate idea of dental implant costs and discuss if other treatments are needed, like removing failing teeth or bone grafting. We can also discuss if you are suitable for immediate implant placement and if temporary teeth are required.
