Dr. Johnson earned bachelors and masters degrees from the College of William and Mary before completing his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He then completed a surgical internship, residency in orthopaedic surgery and fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.As a sports medicine provider at Carilion Clinics Institute for Orthopaedics and Neurosciences, Dr. Johnson specializes in both operative and non-operative treatment of knee and shoulder injuries and disorders, including arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, knee ligament repair and reconstruction.Dr. Johnson is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He has won numerous community awards, including Top Doc in Orthopaedics and Top Doc in Sports Medicine.
