The Rock Island Police Department enforces laws, solves problems, builds partnerships and protects individual rights. Its abandoned vehicle division is responsible for investigating all abandoned vehicle complaints and maintaining computer records on abandoned vehicles. The department s bicycle patrol unit has more than 10 police mountain bikes and over 30 certified police cyclists. The Rock Island Police Department also maintains an advanced communication center that answers nearly 32,000 calls per year. Located in Rock Island, Ill., it operates special programs for senior citizens and youths The Rock Island Police Department has more than 115 full-time employees, including over 85 sworn officers and nearly 30 civilian employees.
