Skateland

I am the manager cjeggers mentioned in his note above dated 4/22/2012. I had a friend tell me about this posting just recently, so I decided to take a look and see what was posted. To my surprise the words in the statement above was twisted around. I have skated for years and currently skate with a traveling jam team. We visit rinks all around northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. This being said, I've experienced a wide variety of rinks of different size and flooring. This don't by far make me an expert on floor upkeep or condition. I do however realize when I skate at different rinks I pick up the floor coating on my wheels which can make my skating ability seem slippery. As for the condition of the floor at Skateland, I told the visitor our floor could use repairs but it was not top priority "at that time". Obviously some people do not know how expensive the repair work is for a skating floor. Also, check the date of complaint. Spring is not the time for floor repairs, this is when attendance begin to drop and rink income is low.

It is a great place for skating. Roller Hockey on Sunday is terrific. My little guy is on his 4th year and loves it

What a shame! I went there with a friend last Saturday. We skated on the floor for eight minutes, and I had to call it quits. The floor is really uneven, and every ten slats, there was a dip. Not to mention that the floor was really slippery, and not maintained. What's even more dissapointing, is I went up to the manager and asked for a refund. He said to me "Well, I skate here, and I know the floor isn't that great. However, I still manage to skate it. I can't really give you a refund, but I can give you free skate passes for next time." And, to top it off, he told me that the floor isn't the owner's current priority... WHAT!?!?!? That's pretty bad, in my opinion. The skating floor is something that will make or break my skating experience. As the fellow skater that went with me said, "Don't, in your best intentions, ever go there."‎
