Dental Examination
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Dental Association recommend every child see a dentist by age 1 or within 6 months of the first tooth erupting. Knee to knee dental exams allow the infant or very young patient to be embraced by his or her parent while Dr. Seetin is able to closely examine and address any parental concerns.
X-rays
Our goal is to protect your child from unnecessary radiation and dental caries (cavities). We use the latest digital technology that has reduced the exposure dose to a fraction of what it used to be with old films. We follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and take dental x-rays based on your child’s specific need (often about once a year) and when indicated.

Our fun and energetic team is dedicated to creating a unique and positive dental experience while “tickling,” brushing, and cleaning every tooth!
Fluoride Treatment
We realize that you are entrusting our office with the oral health of your child. We commit to you that we will do everything humanly possible to deliver excellent dental care to your child in a professional and courteous manner. Our team will do this while keeping you informed of your child’s current dental health and preventing future dental disease through semi-annual dental examinations, cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants.
Dental Sealants
Many teeth, especially permanent molars that erupt at ages 6 and 12, can have deep grooves, pits, and fissures that can trap food and bacteria – making them prone to cavities. We can help to protect teeth from cavities by utilizing state of the art technology to seal these grooves, pits or fissures that your child’s teeth may have. It is drill-less and no numbing is necessary.
Space Maintainers
A space maintainer is an appliance which is designed to hold the space of the extracted primary tooth until the permanent tooth erupts into its proper place. If the primary tooth is lost due to accident or decay, the surrounding teeth should be held in place to prevent closing of this apace. The space maintainer should be placed as soon as possible after the loss of the tooth. Teeth may shift position in a few weeks after the loss of the neighboring tooth. This space maintainer is fixed or cemented.

Crowns
Sometimes cavities in children’s teeth may become so large that simple fillings cannot restore the tooth. To restore the proper shape to the tooth a stainless steel crown is used. This crown is a pre-made cap, which has been trimmed and custom fit to your child’s tooth. These crowns cover the entire portion of the tooth at the gum lines. Stainless steel is a long-lasting material in the mouth and it will serve quite well for the life of the baby (deciduous) teeth. This will keep the tooth and root intact until normal tooth loss occurs when the permanent tooth arrives.

Tooth Extractions
A tooth extraction is performed to remove a tooth, whether because of disease, crowding, or damage. When extractions are required, the area around the tooth will be numbed and your dentist will remove the tooth. A small amount of bleeding is normal, as your mouth will replace the removed tooth root by forming a blood clot in the area.
