The Rush Memorial Hospital Mobile Clinic offers family practice and pediatric services. The RMH Mobile Clinic’s hours of operation will be Mondays and Fridays from 8 am to Noon. The RMH Mobile Clinic provides preventative screenings, treatment of common medical conditions and illnesses, simple procedures, and lab draws. Walk-ins are welcome.

Gynecology
Mammograms are x-rays of the breast. They are the best way to detect the presence of breast cancer early, when treatment may be more successful, especially when combined with a yearly clinical breast exam (CBE) by their health care provider. There are many different opinions on when screening mammograms should start and end for average risk women. American Cancer Society (ACS), US Preventative Task Force (USPTF) and American College of Radiology (ACR) all have slightly different recommendations. The American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) recommends that starting at age 40, women should get a mammogram every year until age 75 (or older if patient wants to continue screening). Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer screening recommendations are evolving, and have changed significantly over the past 2 decades. Screening for cervical cancer is primarily by a test called a Pap smear (which is not synonymous with a pelvic exam). It is a good idea for women to have an annual visit with a gynecologist or other health care provider: a Well Woman Visit (WWV). A WWV is covered annually by insurance, except Medicare. Colon Cancer
There are several methods of colon cancer screenings. In order to be screened for colon cancer you will need a referral appointment with your provider. At this appointment you and your provider can discuss which screening test is best for you. Adults age 50 to 77 need to be screened for colon cancer. Adults age 76 to 85 should be evaluated by their healthcare provider to determine their screening needs. Colon cancer screenings can detect polyps, or growths inside the colon, that may eventually turn into cancer. These polyps can be removed as soon as they are detected, before they become cancerous. In this way colon cancer can be prevented.

Prostate cancer screenings should begin at age 50. There are multiple screening methods. Some may be done by your primary care provider and some require a referral to another testing facility. You should make an appointment with your healthcare provider to discuss which type of screening is best for you.

Lung Cancer
Not all patients need lung cancer screenings. Most lung cancer screenings involve a CT lung scan, which takes pictures of the lungs. CT lung scans are usually done on patients between age 55 and 74 who have smoked a 30 pack-year (see below).

Ultrasound
Ultrasound (also called Sonography) produces images of the inside of the body using high-frequency sound waves. Ultrasound images are captured in real-time, meaning they can also show the movement of the body’s internal organs as well as blood flowing through blood vessels. Unlike X-ray imaging, there is no ionizing radiation exposure when using ultrasound.

The Imaging department recently underwent a complete remodel and is filled with brand new equipment and a beautiful MRI suite. Our staff radiologist, Dr. Jon Hopkins, is now performing biopsies and specialty procedures in-house so patients can get the best care –close to home.
Radiology
When you get services from an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, certain providers there may be out-of-network. In these cases, the most those providers may bill you is your plan’s in-network cost-sharing amount. This applies to emergency medicine, anesthesia, pathology, radiology, laboratory, neonatology, assistant surgeon, hospitalist, or intensivist services. These providers can’t balance bill you and may not ask you to give up your protections not to be balance billed.

Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine utilizes radioactive tracers (radiopharmaceuticals) to assess bodily functions and to diagnose and treat disease. This modality is an effective diagnostic tool because it shows not only the anatomy (structure) of an organ or body part but the function of the organ as well.
Mammography
Mammography is specialized medical imaging that uses a low-dose X-ray system to see inside the breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, aids in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.
Computed Tomography
CT (also known as CAT Scan) stands for computed tomography. Detailed images of internal organs are obtained by this type of sophisticated X-ray device. The CT scan can reveal anatomic details of internal organs, bones, tissue, and blood vessels that cannot be seen in conventional X-rays. The X-ray tube spins rapidly around the patient and the X-rays strike numerous detectors after passing through the body. These detectors are connected to sophisticated computers which generate images after image processing. The radiation dose of a CT scanner is much higher than a conventional X-ray, but the information obtained from a CT scan is often much greater and can aid your provider in making a more accurate diagnosis of your condition.

RMH Surgical Services provides a wide range of services. Surgeons from Rushville, Batesville, Greensburg, Shelbyville and Indianapolis perform surgical and endoscopic procedures at Rush Memorial Hospital.
Orthopedics
Dr. Reed Hoyer specializes in surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Dr. Hoyer received his MD from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his Residency and Fellowship in Orthopedics at Tufts University in Boston.
Arthroscopy
Dr. Hoyer’s clinical expertise encompasses all areas of the adult upper extremity, including traumatic injuries, degenerative conditions, sports injuries, and peripheral nerve disorders. He is also well versed in traumatic injuries to the pediatric upper extremity. He has a special interest in elbow pathology, including fractures, instability, elbow arthroscopy, and elbow replacement. Additionally, he is interested in primary and revision total joint arthroplasty of the shoulder. Elbow and shoulder replacements are performed elsewhere by Dr Hoyer.

Dr. Ginther, a graduate of the United States Military Academy of West Point and a native of Indiana, received his MD degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Services. He completed residency training at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Colorado. His fellowship in Joint Replacement Surgery took place in Mooresville, Indiana, at the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery.

Dr. Hoyer is a diplomat of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery, AMA and the Indiana State Medical Association. He is also an Emerging Leader in the American Orthopedic Association.

Physical Therapy
