I had a similar experience as the above review. I have all the same grievances. I will write more about it later. It was a truly awful experience. I would like to be able to talk to the other reviewer. I would not recommend the Public Guardian's Office of Sacramento if any family member who is caring and concerned can do the job. I would give a rating of zero stars, but you have to rate at least one star.

The Sac Co PG office says they want family involved and will hear what family has to say but their actions prove otherwise. They do not want the family involved except for chauffeuring. They do not want family calling doctors, caregivers, medical ___ etc. They instruct people (doctors, facilities) to not talk to the family; to not give them information. They have a high level of fear (therefore act suspicious and protective) that their decision power will be usurped by the family if the family is "overly" involved. Even an opinion from the family is feared as usurping their power if it is an opinion they do not like or are unsure of. They tell family only what they want the family to know. They share very little information with the family. They ignore requests for more information or talk around the requests to not commit to anything. They do not return all phone calls especially requests for information they are uncomfortable with. They do not have a grievance process for complaints or concerns so one is left helpless. The only accountability is a yearly financial reporting to the court. They do not have to show accountability for their decisions regarding medications, medical care received or not received, the lack or poor level of care received at a facility, etc. They answer to no one except for the annual financial accounting to the court on how they spent the conservatee's money. I'm very disappointed to find the reality is so different from what they said it would be. They have a distorted perception of how well they think they operate. I believe they abuse their power to their benefit over the benefit of the conservatee.
