Teeth Cleaning
We strive to educate all our patients on preventing dental decay and preserving healthy teeth and gingival tissues. This begins with routine dental cleanings where we remove tarter and plaque that has formed on the teeth. Tarter is hardened bacteria and plaque is soft bacteria that has formed on your teeth that can cause gingivitis, which is inflammation of the gum tissue. If tarter or plaque is not removed from the teeth the gingivitis can lead to periodontitis, which is gum disease.

Resin Composite
A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material that is bonded to the front of your tooth. A veneer can be made of porcelain or composite resin material. Both types of veneers require removal of tooth structure before fabrication of the veneer. A porcelain veneer will resist stain better, look more like a natural tooth and will involve two appointments since the veneer is fabricated by a lab technician. Crowns
A crown or cap is placed over a tooth that is cracked, decayed or broken. When a crown is recommended by your dentist it is usually because the tooth has a large existing filling and cannot be restored by another filling. Crowns are also indicated after a tooth has had a root canal. Crowns are commonly made of porcelain, gold or a combination of the two.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is indicated when a tooth has become infected or abscessed. The pulp is the soft tissue inside of a tooth that becomes infected and needs to be removed. It contains the nerve, blood vessels and connective tissue of a tooth. When a root canal is performed the pulp is removed from the tooth but the tooth is able to remain in the mouth. This is a painless procedure that is a wonderful restorative option enabling a patient to keep their original tooth. When a root canal is completed a crown needs to be placed over the tooth.

Dentures
A removable partial denture can be fabricated to replace multiple missing teeth. It is usually made of an acrylic base plate that may or may not connect to a metal framework with acrylic or metal clasps that attach to the remaining teeth in the mouth. It comes in and out of the mouth making it easy to clean.

Dental Implants
A denture is indicated when there are no remaining teeth or if the remaining teeth need to be extracted due to severe tooth decay, periodontal disease, etc. A series of appointments are needed to make your custom dentures. Adhesives or implants can be placed to help support your denture. A consultation is recommended for questions or concerns about a denture.

Home whitening kits that are provided by your dentist are a popular way to whiten your teeth. Impressions are taken of your teeth so trays can be custom made fit to your mouth. The trays are used to hold the whitening material and worn for a specific amount of time until the desired whiteness is achieved.
