-Local anesthesia—Utilizing medication that is injected locally into the surgical site, only the area of surgery is “numbed.” This is similar to what your dentist does for a filling, crown, etc. You are completely aware and awake with this type of anesthesia, and it does not require a driver afterwards. This type of anesthesia is always used for surgery even if other types of anesthesia listed above are also used.

Dental Implants
Right after your placement of dental implants, you will experience bleeding, which is normal. Bite down gently but firmly on the gauze packs provided by Drs. Weber, Weber, Kincaid, and Carn. Do not change them for the first hour unless you continue bleeding heavily. In this case, replace the gauze every 30 minutes. It is best if you moisten the gauze and fluff it for more comfortable positioning. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons recommend you take it easy for 48 to 72 hours after your procedure to allow the healing process to take place and to reduce after-surgery bleeding.

Dr. Kincaid grew up in the St. Louis area and attended the six-year dental program at UMKC, graduating in 1997. He immediately entered the United States Air Force, where he completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency, followed by three years as a practicing Air Force dentist.
