The Salem Family Court process for child support is a joke. It cost me about $1,000.00 to make a change to my child support when my income changed, because my ex-lawyer submitted the wrong payment for the hearing. After realizing that a fifth-grader can fill out the forms to make the changes to child support payments and submit them to the court, I started representing myself in the matter. That is when the child support referee started making blatantly biased decisions against me, and the Justice for the Court "so orders" the referees' decisions without knowing anything about the case, or how the referee comes up with the decisions. The referees do not explain clearly and concisely how they use the facts of the case and the Child Support Guidelines in their written decisions. If you are a victim of a blatantly biased decision by a referee or hearing officer from this court, then your only recourse is to file an appeal with the NH Supreme Court in Concord, NH. The first appeal should be before the Salem Family Court Justice, so he can have all of the information in the case before making a decision, and not just the information that the referees pick and choose to be included with their decisions. The child support process at the Salem Family Court is run by court jesters.
